I am now officially a student at the Universidad de Salamanca Cursos Internacionales. Quite a mouthful, huh? We had our placement test Monday morning and I was placed in Level B, which is called advanced but is really intermediate because very few people place below intermediate, which is Level C. Yesterday was the first day of class, and my professors are awesome. They're very animated, which makes class interesting, and they're willing to repeat things as much as necessary to make us understand. And according to them, my name is not Michelle; it's Meetsell. I could get used to that. There are German and Japanese students in my class as well, which is great because we are forced to communicate with each other in Spanish even outside of class since it is the only common language. Although many of the German students already speak English and French fluently. I'm intimidated by and jealous of them. Let's see if I can master a second language, then we'll see about a third and a fourth. One thing at a time.
We have class from 9:00-12:00 in the morning, and we have afternoons off. I usually go to the gym after lunch, which is one of the few businesses that stays open during siesta. They often play American music there, so it's like a little piece of home.
